The switch is vehicle specific. Does the new dash have the switch or not have the switch? You can have the crash sensor reprogrammed, but a dealership might fuss if the build is supposed to have the switch for safety reasons.
The switch probably just has the light burnt out, that would set an airbag code. What code does the airbag light flash at key-on? For instance, 32 would be three flashes, pause, two flashes, pause, repeat.
code 27.
interestingly, the switch light now is not working. before i put the dash in, the switch light lite off for about 3 seconds while the dash was loose.
27: Passenger Air Bag Deactivation (PAD) Lamp Inoperative
At least you know what to fix. Ford says the light is not replaceable and wants you to buy the whole assembly, but you can remove it and find the right bulb at Radio Shack pretty easily.
mehh. i already took the switch out of my old bezel and will put it in tomorrow. i have to take it apart anyway, i screwed up something with the wiring and lost all dash lights and overhead console.
that is what happens when i rush things.
i have a funny felling i shorted out the DRL's and blew the fuse. everything is hooked up through the DRL relay.
Happened to me... PAS burned out so I had an airbag light. Then it burned out to so I got a ding. Got sick of the ding so I fixed the idiot light. Got sick of the light so I fixed the PAS!
well, the light in the switch was bad. put the switch out of my old busted up dash in and the light came on, and the dash light went out.
now for the lights.
after spending 2 hours re wiring the DRL's and auto lights with new relays, soldered connections and heat shrink tubing, STILL NO DASH LIGHTS!!
as i am getting ready to shoot the truck, the neighbor that knows nothing about cars or trucks comes over and asks what i am doing. so i explained what was up and what i did, and he says did you turn the dimmer?
and there i stood in the driveway, braying like a jackass, as he reached in, turned the dimmer and all the lights came on.
at least i did not make myself look like a total fool by telling him i already bought a new stereo last night to replace the one in the truck with the "burned out" display that lite up when he turned the dimmer.
