Whats everyone's thought about running a Cetane boost with an injector cleaner, and do you think its safe to add every fill up. My 03 seems to run a ton more efficient, less noise and more fuel efficient. Am I just fooling myself or does this stuff really work for the long run. Thanks
I get better MPG, when I sue the additive I try to use Stanadyne, as I found it on here, but when I cant get it I use DieselKleen. check out this research results I snagged from anothe thread: http://www.natbiogroup.com/docs/educ...%20results.pdf

I started with Stanadyne but it was too hard to find while RV traveling. I went to using DieselKleen as it was available at every WalMart.
I've been reading about Opti-Lube & it's better so I'm going to order 5 one gal. bottles so I can carry enough when we travel on our 6,000 to 7,000 mile RV trips.
Just my opinion.

I concur. My '03 has had Stanadyne or Diesel Kleen for the cetane improver, AND Howe's (lubricity formula, not the Meaner Cleaner) for the lubricant, in virtually every tank since new.
I have run tanks without the Howe's, but my truck always seems to light the easiest (even in cold weather) when it has both.
My '02 7.3 truck, and my E with the 7.3 get Stanadyne or Diesel Kleen in every tank as well.
Currently knocking on wood, but I have had really exceptional luck with fuel system components.
I to must agree that running an additive (stanadyne, diesel kleen) has absolutly improved just about every aspect of how my trucks have run. My original pride and joy was a 94 f350 standard cab long bed srw with a n/a 7.3 but put a banks turbo kit on it, after running stanadyne in every tank it started soooo much easier, and smoothed out entire rpm range and that's when diesel was diesel. Now my 06 has only run diesel kleen since new and I really started to notice how it improved the overall performance was when the switch to ulsd was instituted. I have had no injector issues at all(71,000) and original egr, starts in -2f not plugged in, and maybe a romp or two till she "gets happy". I just love my 6.0 and we have had our pains but what "love affair as my wife puts it " doesnt
Thanks for the response everyone I now see I wasnt fooling myself at what i thought was a better running truck. I have not tried Stanadyne because I cant find it. Diesel Kleen is what I have been running as its readily available at Walmarts or Autozones and the price is not to hurtful at all. That and a hillbilly tune up once a week ( blowing the exhaust out) seems to keep things running as smooth as you can hope for with the 6.0.
Thought I would bring this thread back to life with a link to the EPA site where all fuel additives are registered. It appears that gold eagle supplies Motorcraft with diesel additives, and I think Lubrizol is the Co. who makes Optilube products.
