I'm looking for a pic of the firewall that would show the location of the hole that the cable comes through. I've got the dog house off my truck and thought this would be a great time to finally install it.
Was that an option on these trucks? My '79 has no such thing, you just reach through the grill and pull a lever.
Locking hood latch introduced in 1978 as an extra cost factory installed option for 1978 F100/350's & Bronco's.
Also available at the parts counter as a kit (D8TZ-16700-A).
Will fit all 1973/79 F100/350's & 1978/79 Bronco's.
The locking hood latch itself (E7UZ-16700-A [replaced D8TZ-16700-B]) same as: 1975/91 Econoline.
The locking handle w/cable (D5DZ-16914-A) same as: 1975/80 Granada/Monarch/Versailles.
The handle's lock cylinder w/key (D8TZ-16978-A) same as 1975/80 Econoline.
No FoMoCo Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has the locking hood latch kit or the handle w/cable.
There are 12 lock cylinder w/key available NOS
There are 13 locking hood latches (latch only) available NOS, but unless someone just needs a replacement, it won't do y'all any good without the rest of the parts.
strange question, but I cannot get the cylinder out of the handle! is there a secret? I did the same with it as I did with the ignition, but she won't come out! I do have to pull the key back about 1/16 --1/8" to get it to work, because the PO didn't cut it properly, is there a release in front of the key that isn't being pushed???

I haven't seen one a these lock cylinders recently, so I don't recall what they look like.
Is there a pin hole on the face of the lock cylinder? If so, removal is similar to ignition cylinder. If no pin hole on face, look for a similar pin hole on handle.
Stumped? Either drill out the cylinder...replace with NOS, or take the cable to a lock shop, they should be able to get the puppy out.
