EGR valve?

Want to be sure what I'm doing before I even think about it. Thinking Old Rusty MAY need an EGR valve. Is this UFO looking (round, bunch of holes in the bottom, & a tube coming out of there) what I would be looking to replace? '91 F150, 302. Will post picture below. Also, anybody know what size vac. hose I need to go over that red tube sticking out? It's broke in half & I just want to use a piece of vac. hose to patch it for now. Goes over to the coffee can. And of course, IF that is it, how much hassle am I looking at, especially that tube? Looks pretty rusty (like the rest of Old Rusty).

Yup, that's your EGR. Get a new EVP sensor while you're at it!

Thanks for the answer. What on earth is that sensor (EVP)? & where is it? Is that the wires going to the top of the EGR valve?

Yep. It's got 3 bolts in it and sits right on top of the EGR valve.

I don't see it in that pic but there should be a small plastic vacuum line attached to egr valve as well. If you heat up the nut on the tube with a propane torch it'll come off a lot easier.

Thanks for the advice Conanski. I'll look for that line. Have one coming up between the plug wires & going to the coffee can I need to fix. Where does the one you're talking about go?

There is a little spout just inboard of the electrical connector where the vacuum line will attach, you can see it in the pic below. That vacuum line goes around the back of the motor in the vacuum harness and attaches to the EVR(EGR Vacuum Regulator) which is right next to the ignition coil facing towards the front of the vehicle.. see second pic.

Yep, see it on your pic. Gonna have to look for that. Thanks again. Probably help if I was steady enough to take a good picture. Didn't see the 2nd picture, is that stuff by the coil? That red thing in your (2nd) picture looks like a coil. Just re-read your post. Must've missed it the first time. Don't remember seeing that line. Only one I saw was the one coming up between the plug wires that I thought was the other half of the one from the coffee can. The red one from the coffee can is broken & I thought that was the other half of it. I'll try to trace that & see where it goes. Wonder if somebody has tried to "FIX" it before &/or de-smog it?

That would be it. You will need 5/32 vacum hose for your patch job.
