EGR control

Right next to the egr valve is another valve that looks similar to the egr. It is connected to the egr spacer with a very thin metal tube and is also has a vacuum tube going to the egr valve and to the temp sensor. What is this thing? Another control for the egr? I cant find any info on it. The metal tube broke off, and jb wont hold it.

I don't understand this, can you rephrase? What is connected to what?

Okay, this mystery valve has two vacuum connections... one to the PVS and the other to the EGR. Also there is a very small diameter metal tube (1/8" I.D.) which goes to the EGR mounting spacer off of the back of the carb. This "valve/apparatus" is only about four inches away from the EGR and any controlling vacuum the EGR receives must go through this thing first.

Is there any wiring going to it? If not, I'd guess it's a vacuum delay valve.

No electrical at all. My repair manual mentions something about a secondary valve that kicks in at intermittent speeds, only on those vehicles that are equipped (vague). I have searched sites like autozone (usually pretty good when it comes to old components) and nothing comes up, and even the vacuum and emissions control diagram doesn't show this thing.

Based on two vacuum diagrams I have, it appears the component you're referring to could be one of two parts:

W.O.T. Valve - this is from the diagram correct for my '77 351M w/Manual Transmission (Federal Emissions - No PVS)

EGR Vaccum Load Control - this is from another diagram for 351M w/Manual Transmission (Federal Emissions w/PVS)

Whichever you have, there is also a plastic delay valve in the vacuum line between the part and the EGR.

Thanks for the response. There is no connector between the two. the vacuum route is ...engine source to PVS to mystery valve to EGR. If I cant repair the little tube, what if I just eliminate it all together?
