EGR tube leaks
Hey guys, I'm still getting the exhaust ticks under engine load coming from around the EGR area. Is there something I can do to help seal the nuts that hold the EGR tube in place? Is there a sealent applied to the threads or something? I haven't tried tightening down but I just wanna arm myself with all info that I need....

Is the sound coming from around the EGR valve or where the rigid tube attaches to the manifold? If near the valve I wonder if you have a bad or missing gasket. From your description I think you're talking about the rigid tube at the manifold. If that's the case, your best bet may be to remove the tube and carefully inspect it for cracks/leaks, then use a wire wheel on a Dremel and clean the mating threads so the nut can fully engage.

Its tough to tell exactly where its coming from but my best guess is around the egr valve area. I went ahead and went to Napa and picked up some hose sections for the upstream/downstream sections of the egr tube and also a new egr valve gasket. Total was under $5.
I looked at the egr valve area and I have one giant question. How the heck do I remove it? I can get the the bolt on the passenger side of the valve but there is absolutely no way I can get to the drivers side bolt!!! Is there a bunch of stuff I have to remove beforehand? I'm just wondering so I don't turn an hour job into an all day affair.
One more thing, what are the bolt sizes that attach the EGR valve to the mount so I don't strip them?
