It simply amazes me what people will do. Ten million dollars to move a 340 ton boulder 105 miles. Snarling traffic in an already overworked street system. Parking it anywhere during the day (except maybe a football field) is going to mean either blocking that street off totally, or reducing it to one lane each way. I read that every traffic light in its path will have to come down. And that is a two hour job per pole. And for what? so a rock can be put in a museum? Only good thing I see coming out of this is all the money the cities will make in permit fees, and all the people who will have a job for 9-11 days while it is being moved.
So went to court with the daughter today for her DUI.. first time offense was the minimum sentence ..... time served (overnight), $1900 fine plus fees came to $2600, 3 years probation , 6 months of alcohol awareness training classes, 3 months of MADD classes, 20 hours community service and one year no License. All in all not horrible for the DUI and accidents she had accumulated. She has taken it very well, and is being very adult about it... I think it has taught her a valuable lesson.. it did me! Guess she is going to be working very hard for the next few years..... Wait until she sees her insurance bill!
Sounds like a sentence intended to teach a lesson, more than to punish. I would say that is a smart judge.
Maybe she should sell the car, and save that and the insurance premiums toward a fresh start in 1 year.
That is what I suggested also... she wants to get a new car... So she is going to try to find a 65-67 mustang, and she will fix it up in the mean time... she is selling her Camry which is an absolute piece!!!! She makes very good money doing Hair and make up.... she wants to get a foot in the door in Hollywood with her skills. And yes the Judge was really actually pretty cool with her, and very lenient.. He was extremely polite and quite funny too, which put her at ease. I asked him at the break, and he told me he sees about 100-110 cases each day...
Marc, her Classes that she has to attend for 6 months are in Costa Mesa, and the other classes are in City of orange.. My question to her was "how strong are your legs kid.. that bicycle ride will be murder" she didn't think that was soo funny! Funny thing... I did! She thought I was kidding... She was asking the judge how she was to get to her classes,,, he answered " with a bit of ingenuity" Funny how dad can giggle over this stuff!
