The last 6.0 I had done was in October, in November I had a friends Porsche Cayenne done, both both of which are Controller Area Networked (CAN) vehicles, which the BAR 95 program did not support.
On both of these a visual inspection was done, along with an opacity test (yep, even on the Cayenne), and then the computer bypassed the OBD/Dyno
test.
This was the same as my 6.0 test in 2010, but I have been told the CAN equipped vehicles will be tested the same as OBD II equipped vehicles in the near future.
It sounds like ovenking may have recieved one of the extended tests.
ovenking, did they dyno your truck, or just plug and play?
It was just a plug and play no dyno and I watched the whole thing. I consider $200 for a EGR valve cheaper than a new turbo that's why I unplug it. 250,000 miles on the original turbo is all the proof I need. Also my fan works just fine with the EGR unplugged and I pull a fifth wheel in the summer over a mountain to the desert every year. Have never overheated since I've owed the truck and I bought it new in 03. It did have the flash that makes it show CEL when it's unplugged but I just check the codes every week to make sure nothing new has popped up. I think that it has been well documented on this site that the EGR does very little , if anything to lower the pollutants coming out the tail pipe. It's no secret the State evironmentalists would like all diesels off the road and these checks and additional charges are slowly going to make it cost prohibitive to operate one. enjoy them while you can.
