Troubles continue after my hpfp failure!

Its been 12 days since getting my truck back from dealer after my $12k hpfp failure on a new truck with 241 engine hours, and 34 idling hours. Last night, my CEL came on. My transmission started acting funny shifting hard between 1-2 gear. It then did like a two stage shift in 3rd gear. I am driving normally with no trailer in tow. Also, it did something its never done before. I was accelerating from a stop at red light at intersection when transmission shifted from 2 all the way to 5th gear by what it said on the dash. It didn't kill engine but is acting really wierd. Since I'm in Georgia on business, I searched for nearest dealer and its 45 miles away. I started truck this morning and as I drove it around for 20 minutes the CEL light went back off and transmission is still not shifting like it has in past. I am just waiting for ANYTHING else to go wrong so it can leave me stranded on the way home tomorrow. I just hope this POS makes it home so I can be rid of it. Enuff is Enuff!

I know it is frustrating but don't panic yet. How many miles has it been since you got the truck back? It may be that the transmission is going through a full re-learn. It may have been reset intentionally, unintentionally, or otherwise while in for the HPFP repair. I have the 6F in my Escape and the 6R in my sporttrac and I will tell you that they shift like crap for a while when they are re-learning. Just a thought.

I have no explanation for the CEL however

Wow...that's some bad luck.

I doubt this is a coincidence that your truck is having issues shortly after it had it's heart and guts replaced, there's a good chance your dealer missed something, didn't plug something in all the way, or possibly put a wire where it could chafe. It surely needs to go to a dealer, please let us know how it goes.

It shouldn't shift from 2nd to 5th in any learning process.
That brings back experience from the 390/735 tune.
Back to the dealer.

Depends on what code is in it. Could be causing all your problems. There is alot of connecters that one may not got all the way clipped together.

I understand everyone's point about what I could or maybe experiencing but the thing is, I should not have to experience one issue after another. I think the old saying is "when it rains it pours" or in my case, brace yourself for the hurricane!

Have you thought about taking your rig to a mechanic (non-dealer) and have them run a diag on the system, so you can verify the errors codes before you go to the dealer.

I had to do that with my old Chevy K350 to get it fixed properly. Once I knew what the error codes were I was able to "disagree" with the dealers take on the issues.

I am not sure he still owns the truck. He made this comment at The Diesel Stop forum "Since owning my truck I do not think the headlights are all that great. What I did is sell the ford and buy a new gmc. so I have some headlights"

Not sure if he was joking or he sold it. Speedracer???

yeah still here. status as of today is that dealer is buying truck back with Ford assistance. I'm getting a new RAM to replace this truck. I went to Georgia last week for business and my stay got extended a few days. Another problem has arose since getting truck back for the hpfp failure. My urea tank was empty at 2500 miles. Before leaving for Georgia, I filled the urea tank with the motorcraft brand urea until it was full. 1800 miles of driving with and without a trailer has resulted in warning message stating 500 miles till empty of the urea tank. So that is another worry of mine. Truck did 3 complete regens/cleaning exhaust filter during my trip and it used between 3.5 to 4 gallon urea pulling a trailer with weight for 1100 miles. Truck has 7100 miles on it as of today and its used 10+ gallons of urea. Its a joke.

I posted the comment about the GM headlights as a joke. I'm just really frustrated with anything with the blue oval right now.

Just wondered if we should stop asking for updates. Good luck with the new truck.

Quick question if you are still on the site. Did Ford pay for the HPFP repair or did they make you pay?

Thanks
