I have never seen the need for any oil additive in any engine I've had over the years with a good quality oil and changing oil within the required interval. I just make sure that the oil meets or exceeds OEM requirements.
I used to buy into the Lucas stabilizer really heavily. I think it's a great product for vehicles that burn alot of oil or with a lot of miles, especially in Big Rig's. W use it where I work in ours and see great results. From my personal experience using it in my F150 for a couple of oil change intervals I could not tell a difference, and the last interval I experienced the dip stick showing about half a quart overfull along with smoking in cold weather. Alot of people will tell you to that if additives were so good, oil manufacturers would already at it to their product. I would personally recommend a good synthetic 5w 20 like Mobil 1 or Castrol.
Oil Additives have there advantage in larger engines and colder climates but if you have longer seasons and not always extreme winters then I feel they are not as useful.
