OK I just got my edge insight. I have been watching my ect and eot. Driving down the highway my ect was190 and my eot was 223 or so. Is this bad. Once I get off the freeway my eot comes down to around 200-208. Any help would be great. Thanks

Yes, that's a bad thing since your looking at a 33F spread assuming your running light at 65-70mph on the highway. Sounds like your oil cooler is clogged.
Edit: Appears Mark was replying the same time I was. (oops!)
Zhilton ,,,, I was running about 80 MPH. Is there a flush I can do to unclog it? Would a synthetic oil be better?
The type of oil your running has nothing to do with it. It's the coolant side of the cooler that's clogged. I doubt VC9 or Restore will unclog it. Your more than likely better off replacing it. Suggested watching since this is pretty much what your up against.....
Wow 33* spread thats alot especialy if you have a square egr cooler
You need to flush cooling system out regaurdless
I have hears 1-2 people say that a flush helped I beleive one guy did it every weekend for 2 months and said he got it down. But IDK weather or not it really did
But youj need to flush it may help but it must be done for the new oil cooler antway
the problem is when its plugged the coolant passages in the oil cooler you cant get any cleaner in it to get the junk out
Just make shure after a 12 hour cold soak minimum that ECT&EOT are the same this verifys the gauge
jl4407, you'll get better help in this thread than the one headed about the Insight gauge, and I see you already have a few knowledgeable guys reading and asking questions.
One question for you: do you know how interconnected the systems on this truck are? It'll help the guys recommend solutions for you. Understanding why the temp is that far apart is key to making a good decision on what to do next.
The oil cooler in this truck is a sandwich block that has coolant and oil flowing very close together. They are sepreated by a thin layer of metal. The coolant also continues on to the EGR cooler. So if the coolant passages become clogged it can become puking coolant from the degas cap, high oil temps, failed egr cooler, oil in the coolant if the oil cooler fails and/or head gasket issues.
Do you know the past history of your coolant maintenance? Have you got a coolant filter? Is there any white reside around the cap on the coolant reservoir?
No I don't know the history behind the coolant, and I don't have any white stuff around the cap nor am I puking and coolant. Not sure if it matters but I'm also not blowing any white or black smoke out the tail pipe. I watched a video on YouTube and he said 200 215 was OK is that correct?
i believe the guys and myself included mentioned the 15 degree spread. those are not our words. they're on ford manuals.
benny and zhilton summed it all up. hate to say tis, but new oil cooler is ur best bet. while ur there, it is advisable to change out ur egr cooler too. again, ford recommendations as well.
The oil cooler is plugged - on the coolant side. If you used chemicals to flush the coolant, that may have been the cause. Did you use chemicals for the flush?
Continue to operate the truck and you risk rupturing your oil cooler and rupturing your EGR cooler. Both of these events are quite costly.
