It means if the EGR cooler ruptures, it can dump coolant into the intake...water (coolant) can't compress like air in the cylinders. Which means the engine won't turn over. It can also cause all kinds of damage to the engine. That's why a delta of 33F is scary. Get it fixed or quit driving the truck before things get really expensive

You can try to flush what you did before drain and fill usually wont plug them up

So its probably collected its own junk over time you would probably have a hardtime to flush it and really clean it out

did you read thru this

SOME GREAT IDEAS ON OIL COOLER BACKFLUSH
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ch-advice.html

If I was you I would get some VC-9 and do a really thuro flush pull the thermostat out flush a couple times with water then add the VC-9 2bottles of it and set to high idel for an hour thats like 1100 rpms. Flush it clean then replace that oil cooler

I see you're in Arizona. If you have to get smog tested then an EGR delete is NOT in your future. IMHO $665 is too high. An oil cooler kit can be purchased for <$250 shipped to the house and it comes with all the necessary gaskets. BPD cooler is $350 plus shipping. You MIGHT need a turbo install gasket kit for $10.

At 250, I would not hesitate to replace the cooler. It seems to be quite a task to remove all the parts to get at it.

Would you replace the EGR cooler has well?

I can not find a oil cooler for less than 300. Am I looking in the wrong place. And yes I have been told to do the egr cooler at the same time, on that note can anyone tell me why I need to change the egr if there is nothing wrong with it. Thanks

If there's nothing wrong with the egr, keep it. Don't confuse the egr with the egr cooler. Diff. animals.

if ur doing the oil cooler, ford recommends doing the egr cooler as well, cos the gunk tat killed ur oil cooler might still be lurking around and might also kill ur egr cooler in the future as well.
