97 PSD fuel issues

ok. cleaned fpr screen.
unplugged ICP.
while cranking the engine there is white smoke coming from the tailpipe.
the fuel bowl is filling up with fuel while it is cranking and the fuel pressure seems to be on the weak side.

also there are 2 connectors on each valve cover with 5 wires on each plug. they controll your glow plugs and injectors. every now and then they will burn up. try unplugging each connector and look for burnt pins or bad wiring going to the connector. also take off the oil fill cap and passenger side valve cover and smell for a burnt smell.
