Update on my FICM issues: I ended up after changing out the power supply on the FICM and still having no start, checking the oil pressure and having over 500 psi, having to re-flash the computer side of the FICM. Somehow it was wiped out. Now it is running like a champ. I do still have the #7 Glow issue which I plan on fixing soon. Any help on how to do that? I have been told that the connectors often break when changing it out so it is good to change that when you change out the glow plug?
Ok guys, I'm at a loss. My truck was running great for about a week and half after changing out the FICM. Now I'm having no luck getting the truck to start. I am only getting 9 volts going into the FICM which the FICM is converting to about 33 volts. Any suggestions on what the problem may be? Oh and I put a new #304 relay in as well because I thought it may be bad and be causing the problem, but no luck!
I have a Ford dealership mechanic doing some side work for me since now I am out of my element the further I go along. He hooked a computer up to it to take all the readings and he explained to me that the batteries were fully charged but somehow only 9 volts were making it to the FICM. Not really sure what was meant by it but from what I can gather there may be a short somewhere that was causing volts to be lost between the battery and the FICM. I didn't get a chance to talk to him long to ask anymore questions. He told me he was going to start troubleshooting the electrical, such as the fuse box under the hood and go from there. He said my oil pressure is good and the fuel pressure was good (fuel pump is working). That's all I have at this point until I can ask him some more pointed questions. I just thought I would relay what he told in our brief conversation and see if anyone had any ideas.
I'll be interested in hearing what he finds. Unfortunately, whatever the reason for the 9 volts, your freshly replaced FICM may be toast again. And I have to think that this is somehow related to the original FICM having lost its programming. May have happened again.
