I was trying to check for codes on my buddy's 2001 X and could not get the program to connect to the vehicle.
How do you choose a new vehicle to check out?
I had it running off the power in my truck while I tried to pull codes on the X.
Make sure that the 20 amp fuse supplying the OBDII port is not blown. Don't remember which one it is, but if you have the Owners Manual, it's the same fuse that supplies the cigarette lighter.
You were correct. I did blow the #12 fuse for the lighter socket. After replacing the fuse after work, I attempted to try the AC on my '02 truck which has worked in the past.
Now, after it connects it does not pull the two codes it has always pulled in the past and it will not clear the one code that is shown.
Then it will not do the injector buzz test as it has done in the past.
That's a good one. Sounds like you may have a corrupted file in the AE installation on your hard drive. I would check the AE downloads for any updates, download and install the updates if there are any, and you might also just try re-installing AE altogether. If you do a reinstall, I would wipe the existing copy first just to make sure that the new install is clean.
If none of that works, you can call the guys at AE directly. They've been helpful for me in the past, and they may know of something else. Hope you get it working soon.
Possibility that powering the laptop from one vehicle and checking the codes in the other might be causing an electrical problem indirectly by essentially linking the two trucks together via the reader and USB cable. Just a guess, though.
