Little bit of help please?
If you have double checked the cam timing. Make sure the RH phaser locating dowel is properly indexed with the camshaft. If this dowel is missing or not in the camshaft slot bad things will happen. Also check the cam caps and journals for damage.
Ok, this is strange, somebody listened to the truck and said it sounded like clogged exhaust.
So I drove it around the block and drivers #1 CAT was glowing! Exhaust smells bad too.
What the heck?
Oh yeah, now we have some codes after driving around the block..
P0171, P0174, P2198

Drivers side CATS getting clogged is a common problem on these trucks... Mine was clogged @ 84,000. Replaced it and wa-la - Power! Now I just need to replace my cam phasers and I should be good.
P0012
So if I may I'd like to ask a question of the experts; although I realize I may be ridiculed. Have a 2005 F150. 5.4; coding P0012. However money is tight and I have no problems with the truck. Runs great, idles great, etc. Am I risking serious damage not getting it fixed? It's been like this for a couple thousand miles. Thanks!
