6.2 cam question

Well in the process of putting a new piston in and getting the valve redone, I had a little timing issue lol. I have already took it apart 2 times the first it was out of time by about 2 teeth misfire in 5,6,7&8. Now the 2nd timing I think I have the timing right on the gears, but my dad got carried away and broke the little peace in the center/front of the cam. I have looked and looked trying to find what it is. It has a hole in the center and pushes into the cam, I found in the workshop manual what looks like the place it was and it says Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) system oil filter. Anyone know if this is right and will it hurt anything being broke off even, I also looked trying to find what might push it in and I cant find anything. One more question on the timing. I got all the misfire codes gone but it does still have a code P0024 - Camshaft Position 'B' Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance Bank 2. Could this be the peace broke causing this or did I miss my exhaust valve timing by a little. Will this hurt to drive for now with this problem, the truck runs fine and idles good.

so i found the peace that broke on the ford parts website it is a Engine oil cooler part number 6C683 and one of the problems that triggers the code is Continuous oil flow to VCT piston chamber. So would that peace being croke maybe let the oil flow continuous? or do I still have it out of time.

well I did find out that its a peace on the sprocket actuator. Which means I guess I have to buy the whole peace because that small middle peace doesnt come off.
