VIN?
The 4th digit of the VIN is the engine code.
1961/64 F100/350: B = 262 1V I-6 / C = 292 2V V8 / J = 223 1V I-6.
1964: The Warranty Plate is located (riveted) on the left door face below the latch. Has the VIN, myriad codes stamped on it.
The hidden frame VIN will be found atop the right (passenger) side frame rail, either in front of, or partially under the cab.
It may help others, since most have no Ford literature of any kind...as long as the info is correct. But, as usual, it isn't...has multiple errors and omissions.

The AXLE codes do not define Limited Slip from non Limited Slip. Didgidy, dodgidy doo used the letter O instead of the correct ZERO in AXLE codes.

The only TRANS code listed for 4 speeds is F, but doesn't define exactly what the F code decodes to. So, how helpful is it?
There is no TRANS code listed...at all...for the New Process 435.

TRANS code G decodes to Cruiseomatic, but there were three different Cruise-O's used 1961/66.
TRANS codes A & C do not decode to 3 speed Light Duty specifically, because it depends on what size the engine is whether it's a Light Duty...or not.
The A code doesn't define which two different three speeds were used.
The BODY codes do not define Uni's from Stylesides and what the hell is a Stepside or a Flushbed?

Stepside = Chevrolet/GMC / Flareside = Ford / Flushbed = Your guess is as good as mine!
All Flaresides are body style 83, Unit bodies are 66's and all non Uni Stylesides are 99's, but...
You won't find one reference to a body style of 83 or 99 on the Warranty Plate, or within the VIN.
Only 1961/63 Uni's have their BODY code listed on Warranty Plates.
It's obvious that didigidy dodgidy doo didn't get any of this info from Ford parts catalogs, that's for damn sure.
