Need help with vin
I got it off the plat on the door. but the plate does say that its not for registration purposes.
Heres the number F 1 0 J D 4 9 0 7 0 3
THe only letter that may not be correct is the D. becaseu there is a big scratch thur it but the DMV lady says that its not an I like I first thought.
If this is not the VIN number then where on the 64 ford is it. we have looked everywhere. I would sure hate to have a truck but not be able to liciense it.

The frame # that your DMV will be on the frame passenger side on top of the frame about where the gen. is.

That IS the VIN number...it should match the registration. Either find another person to wait on you, or go to your local AAA Club, as they take care of registrations, too.
If law enforcment in your state (or nationwide) ran your VIN, it would come up with the make, model and year of the truck, and the owners name and address. That proves exactly what the VIN is.
There are books put out nationwide by state DMV's. The books show sample VIN's and titles for everything. Your individual state DMV offices should have all those books.
The Kelley Blue Books and NADA price guides all have sample VINS = just like yours.
Many Ford truck historical books have sample VINS = just like yours.
EVERY Ford parts catalog from 1948 shows how to decode the VIN.
My VIN is F10DR639*** It's on the door plate. I've had no problems with registering it.
I HATE reading posts like this. Ppl in some DMV offices think they are Koenig Scheiss, but are nothing more than ignorant, pompous pinheads. The older the vehicle, the stupider they are.
