well i know it needs a new pan but the last time i had a jeep and tried to replace the pan gasket it was a pain that never worked right. I plan that if i can afford it maybe paying a shop to replace the pan and a wheel bearing for me but not sure if its worth it ya know?
Few guys on bronco forums have done new pans pumps and gasket without pulling the motor. Just need to take loose the motor mounts and lift the motor up as high as it will go before the intake hits
The pan "may" not clear the oil pump with the engine jacked up as far as possible..
The cure there is to drop the pump into the pan then remove said pan. Place the oil pump in the new pan then install the oil pump with the pan laying on the cross member..
Granted it ain't easy but if you can't pull the engine to get room to work, this is "another way"..
Good luck however you go about it.
And, don't worry about breaking the bell housing unless you try to jack the truck up by jacking the engine.
