So I am trying to lift off the cab from the frame. Everything is unbolted and disconnected and ready to be removed. The problem is is that its an extended cab and i am a loner in regards to rebuilding the beast. I was looking at getting one of those over head cranes from harbor freight to help make thing easier. The question is where should i lift it from. DO I rig up some kind of strap system to where the cab wholes are. DO i grab if from the top using straps through the windows and around the roof ? Any sugestions would be appreciated
When we swap cabs on trucks we use a skid loader and a tractor with a bucket on it, and put straps through the windows, pick the cab up, and have another guy push the rest of the truck out from under it and set the cab back down. by yourself, I don't think you can really do it safely.
he can you send me some pics of everything you did to the cab to strip it. i have to take one off a 95 f150. i have somebody that wants to buy it and ive been working on it for over a week and i havent made to much progress becuase i dont know a lot on what to do.
its not that bad, if the box is off, run your strap thru the windows and lift, the front will lift off first. to lift it level run straps over the back of the cab and hook underneath.
Well I don't know how to do it with out somebody else but if you get one of those Harbor Freight tools you will be good just put a strap around it's windows and all and lift but do it slowly becuase if you go fast you might break something. If you have an engine puller that will go high enough then why don't you do that even if you just get it a bit higher just back it up and you should be good. But make sure you take your time because most of the time when you think you have everyting good and ready to go you don't truck me I had my brothers and buddies over lifting a cab up and a few wires were hanging them up so I had to cut the wires while they stood there holding onto a 1989 F150 cab. Ain't to easy but you can do it by yourself I would think.

When we did a friends truck we lifted the cab and put 4x4 under the cab. Then set the boards on saw horses and then rolled the frame out from underneath the cab.
