I have a 89 bronco that i swapped a 83 351W into. Well the motor i got didnt have any accessory pullies on it or brackets. what i was wondering is what years bracket will fit to mount the accsessories onto. Im assuming that this year motor would have had a V-belt system, should i just leave it or swap it over to serp. belt system and what would that entitle? im assuming the brackets i have out of the 89 wont work since it has a 302 and a serp belt system?
somewhat yes. The big problem is that there are differences in waterpump and balancer heights. Also you prob already know but serp uses reverse rotation waterpump.V of course does not. IF you could I would suggest finding serp off a similar year 351 from f-series or bronco with balancer.
If it was me anyway.
wouldnt there be clearance issues with using a serp setup with a mech fuel pump? its a new pump and i dont want to replace that andthe timing cover just so i can run a serp belt.
hmm,I dont think that would be a problem. I have never encountered that as an issue. I did an 83 mustang with a later model engine and serp and there was no interference. I think you will be ok honestly.
so basically its sounding like it would just be a better idea to go with a serp belt system. would 302 brackets work on the 351? i have the ps pump braket off the old 302 that was in there would that bolt up?
