Seafoam

Currently before I bought my 04 F350 SD diesel, I had a gasser were at times I would use the Seafoam product to clean the injectors and all. Currently since I have my diesel, I only use Diesel Kleen for the truck and working on getting some Rev-X which I've seen through previous post that it helps in the oil and clean the engine. I was looking at the Seafoam and wondering if anyone uses it for there diesels and how well it works. Right now I plan on use the diesel kleen for filling the truck up and possibly use rev-x for the oil once I can get some.

Diesel Kleen works well for me. My only concern to express is what is SeaFoam made with? You don't want alcohol in your fuel.

I've used Seafoam in chainsaws, outboard motors, motorcyles, pressure washer, diesel farm tractors, earth moving equipment, my 7.3 and my two 6.0's.

I've got no dog in the fight; just reporting my good results.

Ya on my gasser Sport Trac I used Seafoam in the gas/oil/and brake booster line and I didn't have much problems and of course keeping up with maint schedules. I didn't have to much problems except for tires going flat.

I was thinking of using in my 6.0 but right now I'm keeping with Diesel Kleen and when I start using Rev-X keep things going.

Exactly why I don't use it in my truck.

I put it in the oil of my 6.0 a day before I was going to change the oil once when I first got the truck to try and clean out any deposits. It didn't cause any problems.

I too have used SeaFoam in my 6.0. In the fuel no problem....used it to eliminate a 'striction prob too. As Kert above says, I put it in the oil a day or two before I was going to change it. I ran it in the fuel for a full tankful. Always use DS too.

I have a can of the SeaFoam sitting on the shelf just in case.

I change my oil every 10,000 to 12,000 miles and when I change the oil I add in 2 cans of Seafoam. Then about 100 miles before I change the oil, I add another can. Have 104,000 miles on the X and never had a turbo or injector problem. I also put 2 cans in when I do a 44 gallon fill up on the X. Most of the time I just put in the correct amount based on the amount of diesel fuel I get.

Like Pappy47 I have used Seafoam in everything. Diesel and gas, 2 and 4 cycle equiupment including my go fast boat. It is a great fuel stabilizer. I keep 100 gallons of gas in my go fast boat during the winter, just for emergency purposes, and I treat it with 4 cans of Seafoam.

Seafoam is 50% pale oil, 30% naphtha and 20% Isopropel Alcohol. Here is the link to the MSDS sheet: Sea Foam | MSDS

I doubt that 6.4 oz. of IPA in 2 cans of Seafoam will ruin a 6.0 with 416 oz. of motor oil. If that be the case, mine would have been dead a long time ago.

Also, like Pappy47, I have no dog in the fight; just providing information and telling my experiences.

I've heard of Seafoam being used as a flush before an oil change, but I would NEVER add two cans to fresh oil and run it the whole time...

I use it at different times on all of my gasoline powered stuff, but have never done it on my diesel. I may try putting a can in before my next oil change.

I'd use it a lot more for various things it if wasn't so expensive!!
