Hope everyone is having a good year so far, well I'm almost ready to install my Jag ifs in my 53, and I'm debating on weither to cut off the front trailing arms off the cross member. I am going to end up with six bolts on each side holding it in, and I would think that would be enough. If I'm missing something let me know. I'm still trying to figure out how to post pic's, so give some time to get that straighten out.
Hey I welded my JAG IFS in and cut my fronts off. I got more pics and I see u are not that far away! Here's a few pics. I boxed the frame to the crossmember just in front of the rear axle also.
Thanks for the reply Jeff, I agree with you, I believe it would look better without the trailing arms sticking out, I welded in a 3/4 in. box plate which will go between the frame and cross member, welded in three nuts in the box so I could bolt the frame to the box plate. Then filled in between the frame and where the cross member goes up, bolting that to the frame and welding that to the upright. After I get the truck done, and I'm satisfied with the alignment I could go back and weld it in.
3/4" !! heavy duty! I assume you, like me, had that available and why not use it? Nothing wrong with that, just seems awfully thick. True story, I won't have the ability to adjust for alignment. Live and learn! hey get yourself 25 posts and you can PM me. Maybe we can meet sometime.
Hey Jeff, got to the shop yesterday and the first thing that got done was removing the trailing arms, it looks allot cleaner now, should have final fitting today. Then concentrate on rear.
I don't know if you caught this thread, but it's more JAG info, some pictures and other guys using the JAG IFS. Where are your pictures? this place likes them!
