When my fuel pump went out it sounded just fine and buzzed for about 20 seconds and then stopped which is normal operation but little did I know it was on its way out and making the truck not have any power till one day I decided to try and find whats wrong with the truck and when I turned the key to "on" I didnt hear any buzzing at all, so I drained the fuel bowl and left it open and turned the key back on to see if fuel would come out and thats how I found that my fuel pump finally quit.
Well I replaced the fuel filter today, and man was it dirty. Both the outer screen and the filter in the middle we just black as could be.
Wasn't for sure what to do once I got it unscrewed, so of course I made a hell of a mess with spilling diesel. But the fuel pump still makes the same noise. So I guess my next step will be the FPR.

I guess you didnt drain the fuel bowl first. The yellow lever on the back of the fuel bowl is the drain lever just open that and make sure you have a catch under the truck.

Yup... gotta read the whole directions.
A piece of tubing on the drain helps even more, so you make NO mess.
