oil in the plenum

oil in the plenum
i have a 1990 f-250 4x4 ,351w . i took the plenum off to put a new valve cover gasket on the passenger side and noticed oil in the back hole on the plenum . i know that is where the pcv valve is piped in . but what would make the oil come up in the plenum ? not alot but enough to drip out when i was putting it back on . is this normal ? or is something wrong again .lol

Ford also re-routed the PCV vacuum line to the center vacuum tree around 1994-95ish. They also issued a service bulletin about it. Too much oil has resulted in hydraulic lock. By moving the vacuum source, any sucked in oil is more evenly distributed.
Check/replace your PCV, re-route your vacuum source line. Also make sure the fresh air supply hose is properly routed to the airbox. There is a filter in there below the main air filter for the engine.
