gas gauge issues
I replaced the fuel pump and float on my 85 2.3 ranger, but gas gauge is not working. The connection looked okay on top of tank, but I don't know which fuse to look for (the hayne's manual doesnt say). Do the actual gauges go bad? It sat for years unused if that is any help in troubleshooting... Any Help here?

only the pump and float. the whole thing is over 100 bucks. Is there a part on the the thing the float attaches to that can go bad? Or are you just jealous of my question and decided to post three more?

Fuel guage sending unit
Yes, there is another part in the assembly. The metal arm the float attaches to will connect to the sending unit for the guage. To find out if that is the problem you will have to take it apart again. Or a rodent could have gotten in the wiring or some other issue. You will need an electrical meter to test it.
