I got a new wiper switch for my 81 Bronco and the wipers will still not turn off. I have to put it in between a selection to make them stop. Sounds like an it could be an easy fix like something else is bad.
Edge, yes I still have different speed and yes it did do that before.
AB, there is no delay installed. When I say in between the selections I mean like where it stays in between the switch being off and slow. Not sure if that makes sense.
I think i get what he means. when your going from low to "high" or off or whatever if you leave it in the space in between where there is technically no selection for the wipers. kind of like when you go from low to high and there is that small spot between the 2 selections. My 78 does that going from low to off but thats just cause of the style of switch. It turns off just fine.

Gruesome, you hit the nail on the head. That is exactly the problem. No big deal but I thought it would be an easy fix. If I could explain it good enough maybe it would be easier.
I figured replacing the switch would work but i guess not. Is there a control board on the actual motor? Maybe something in that is goofed up. Other than that the only other stuff i know of would be the wiring inbetween
I thought the same about the switch. That ran through my mind about the motor but I can live with the wipers coming on unexpectedly every now and again for $50. The wires were checked really good bc I pulled the WHOLE harness when the thing shorted out and burned up some wires.
Oh ok. The reason i was thinking about the circuit board on the motor is cause with some of the newer GM vehicles they have a board that when some of the contacts break you lose some of the controls of the wipers. I doubt that is the issue but there may be aome sort of board on there.
