I installed the complete EGR delete kit from Custom Diesel. It has the same cooler delete pipe as this kit plus the up-pipe, block off plate, bolts and Ford gaskets. It fit great and has worked great so far. The main difference between this kit and $300 kits is that the Custom Diesel kits are not chromed or polished.
I went with a Full deleate with a new exhaust uppipe and that same coolant Jpipe
it was the sinister everything fit like it should I went with it because I havent heard any complaints from anyone with it. And they didnt have all these knock off kits at that time either 6.0 Upgraded EGR Cooler | MKM Customs 6.0L Ford Powerstroke EGR Delete Kit
but there are cheaper Full egr deleates that are the same as this sinister one in my link
I think you can get a Full deleate for around 150.00 uppipe jpipe all of it just depends what you want
some even weld a plug in both ends of the cooler
and some just put a freeze plug in it and still use the egr cooler for the coolant flow path
Lots of options
your kit in your link will be a faster install than what I did changing that uppipe sucked and took some time I wasnt in a hurry though and I guess I dont have to worrey about that exhaust plug leaking its probably not an issue though maybe it comes with the thin metal exhaust gasket
If I had to do it again I think I would try that kit.
Let us know how it goes if you go with that one
and if your oil cooler is new and still within Ford spec Id leave it alone its fine
once you deleate the egr the spread is not as important since your not worring about the egr cooler blowing out because of a clogged oil cooler
dont get me wrong here you still need to watch ECT vs EOT spread cuz you dont want a plugged oil cooler but your not Babysitting the egr cooler anymore either. Hope that made sense
I'm thinking I will be ordering this in the next few days and hopefully get it on soon. I have my '04 and my '99 7.3L listed for sale on CL here in Atlanta and have obviously gotten more interest in the 7.3, so I think that will be the first to go. If it is, then I will definitely be starting to be more money into the bullet-proofing of the 6.0!
What is a good time estimation or cost estimation for the install?
Man, prices on the EGR delete kits have really dropped. I paid double what they sell for now. But, I guess 6 years of no soot being recirculated through the intake has been worth it!
