2004 F350 74,000 miles at 60k head gaskets & egr cooler, dealer put ARP studs in at my request, 10k miles later egr cooler leaking dealer changed again. After looking at the egr cooler & the small cooler fins inside I see why it plugs up. I looked at a lot of kits ,I didn,t see any reason to weld egr when bypass exhaust like with some kits. Shawn at Liberator is a lot of help an answered all questions in a timely matter. The kit is a lot of work (any kit will-be ) it's worth it ,you won't beleve how dirty the intake is ,buy a lot of brake cleaner 6 cans. I had at least 10 hours in it ,take notes & take your time, cycle key tree times before you first start motor. Good luck
yep..here is what the inside of the EGR cooler looks like..Mine had only 800 miles on it when i removed it since the dealer just replaced it.
There are several EGR delete kits out there to choose from. It's all a matter of preference. I went with River City Diesels kit, spoke with them on the phone for over a hour discussing what had to come off to get to it. Overall it took me 12hrs to do.
As posted before in other threads, I went with the First Coast Diesel delete kit. It took me about 12 hours also. The kit is complete and well done. You get a steamed intake manifold that has been tig welded for the needed mods. I am very satisfied with my choice
If your not mechanically inclined(no offense) and don't have very much patience i wouldn't attempt this, there is alot involved, but it is well worth it when you get finished. And if you do do it the easiest way to clean the intake is get some simple green and soak the intake down with that and take it to the car wash. I used 7 cans of brake cleaner and still couldn't get all that crap out of the intake.
