Shock Choices ???

I am going to be purchasing new shocks and steering stabilizer for my truck and was wondering what brand you all would recommend and where to buy? I was looking at Bilsteins on this site Bilstein Shocks: 99-04 F-350 Superduty (Dual Rear Wheel, Includes Fx4, Non-Utility) - 4WD - eShocks.com: . Is that a good price for 4 Bilstein shocks and the Bilstein steering stabilizer? I have never had any aftermarket shocks on any of my 3 Super Duty diesels but I did have Bilsteins on my 2001 F150 and liked them back in 2002 when I puchased them but have heard some complaints about Bilstein lately and wanted some real world opinions on what is available as far as shocks go. Thanks guys..

I was surprised by the recent rash of negative comments about Bilsteins. (Granted, some of them were customer service related). I, for one, really like mine. Great ride. I don't normally drive off-road, so I cannot comment on that. On the highway, loaded, unloaded, and towing, I am quite impressed. Great all around handling and damping characteristics. On rough roads they perform about as well as I could imagine a heavy 3/4 ton 4x4 can ride. I will definitely buy Bilsteins again. (As far as price, I'm not sure if dually shocks are much different, but my four shocks 3 years ago were a bit over $200 delivered)

I have Bilsteins on one truck and Ranchos on the other... I prefer the Ranchos myself. Lots of people here like the Bilsteins though.

I was hoping this would come up again. I will need shocks in the spring. I lost track of the other thread @ shock problems and customer service.

JM, what model Rancho, and what are you doing with that truck? On/off road, towing,...

I have the 9000xls. They are on my Excursion and mostly highway miles and some off roading (very slowly) to get to my friends farm./ We also tow a 9k camper and it's nice to stiffen up the rear shocks when towing. The Bilsteins on my f250 didn't seem very good 3 years ago when I put them on and I already have the front end bounce when I hit the brakes. Just my experience.

I'm satisfied with the Monroe Reflex, less than $200 for all 4

I've had the yellow Bilsteins for 7 years and am happy with them. Bought to stiffen SRW suspension so I could carry heavy in box camper with reduced sway. Mostly on pavement. Put on Ford steering damper a couple of years back and works great so far. Would buy both again.

I've been running Skyjacker Nitros for about 3 years now and they've performed flawlessly. Eventually I'd like to upgrade to some Fox shocks.
