Any thoughts on the value of this Ex ? Texted the seller and his asking price is $19K. Since it has Cummins swap, I'm not certain the dollar value.
Destroked parts and 94K miles on the Cummins motor. Per seller truck is great, no issues -- of course who wouldn't say that ?
I don't read that article the same way. I think that it's a '94 Cummins, not a Cummins with 94K on it. The motor's 17 years old. No telling how many miles are on it.
I think $19,000 is way out of line. Not only does the seller want you to pay for the Cummins, he wants to make some money on it as well. I wouldn't touch it not knowing how many miles are on the engine.

I specifically asked him how many miles on the truck and he said 94K. I realize it's going to be difficult to know the actual miles on the motor.

I would search for a nice 7.3L Excursion.
Seller claimed that he has $24K on the truck. Then I said "sorry to hear that you spent a ridiculous amount of money" and he got really upset and started to cuss me out. I told him at $19K is still asking for too much --its not just about the Cummins but the Ex has 150K miles and it has those tiny side mirrors -- just looks funny.
I politely told him that I would not even try to give you an offer since at $19K we are just too far apart on the price. He then drops the F bomb and I just ignored him. You guys should text him and offer him say $10K just to pissed him off. He is not a very nice person.
I would really like to have a Cummins though. I owned 2 Cummins pick up trucks since 2002 -- sold my '03 1 ton to buy my Ex last August and I'm extremely happy with it.
Just because he sunk $24,000 into a 10 year old Excursion isn't your fault.
If he cussed you out and dropped the F bomb, just imagine what he will be like when you go back to him and tell him you discovered the Cummins has 450,000 miles on it. You think he will negotiate and give you any type of refund back?
I would move on and seek out a 7.3L diesel Excursion.

Yep. That's not unlike buying any new vehicle. When you go to sell it, you get less than what you paid for it.
And keep in mind that this is a "one off". When it break, or even needs routine maintenance, you'd better be prepared to do a lot of wrench turning yourself, or with the help of some friends. The alternative is to pay a premium for when the mechanic can't find "the right hose" or "the right belt". Imagine taking it on the road and needing a mechanic when a cylinder goes dead?
Im with everyone else in this thread, step away and find a really nice 7.3 Excursion!!! Their out there i just picked mine up last weekend. 02 with the 7.3 and it has the limited package. I know i paid a steep price, but they also gave me big money for my trade, which was a low mileage superduty that had the 7.3 also. The excursion makes me smile, and i just have the urge to drive it constantly!!! Its like a Lincoln Town Car, compared to my old truck. The excursion has only 64000 miles on it by the way.
