MSD problem

Hi everyone,
I have an F700 with a 429 gas. I removed the factory distributor (it cracked) and replaced it with an HEI conversion that works awesome. I just installed an MSD 6a and don't have a tach now. Any tips would be great. Before I spend 70 for a tach adaptor.

Alex

I can only go by what the instructions say. These MSD ignitions are capacitve discharge and actually "push" the voltage into the coil. For that reason you can't use the coil connection like the original tach used. They give you a special "tach" connection on the box. Why doesn't it work without a adapter, I do not know. I suppose you have the option of buying the adapter, or buying a aftermarket tach that works with the "tach" connection(a few tachs do work with it).
