There is a part for correcting the signal input to the tach from the crane hi6 or msd 6 units. I believe they are simple transformers that can be had for a much cheaper cost at an electrical supplier. Has anyone gone this route. What I need to know are the specs on these units. The msd part # is 8910.
Thanx
you won't need that adapter. Almost any tach under the sun will work with an MSD 6A, just move the tach coil wire, put a female spade connector on it, and it plugs into the side of the MSD box. There is a list that MSD publishes about which tachs work and which ones don't, but I have found that all the ones I've used that MSD says won't work really will. My Sunpro tach worked great, even though MSD said it wouldn't. Don't buy it unless your tach isn't working, and don't connect your tach to the coil + side, because the MSD puts out multiple sparks, so it'll read ~3 times higher than the real engine speed! TK

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 26-Aug-02 AT 02:49 PM (EST)]Actually I do need the tach adapter. Hope I don't get flamed for the next statement - Its for my 1986 Nissan 300zxt (I now go into the protective ducking position) However I do own and drive daily my 1981 F150 - 400M on dedicated propane. Headers, RPM intake, 3.50:1, recurved dizzy etc...
The unit I have is the Crane HI6-TRC. The tach adapters are the same for both companies.

I'd apreciate any help, I can't remember where I left the info. Someone told me a few years back about the cheaper elecro store replacements.
Thanx again.
Okay, I had no idea we were dealing with a Nissan here. Yep, that's about the only thing that won't plug right into a 6 Series box. No biggie about that kind of import, those are kinda cool I think. It's most anything Honda that will surely get you flamed by myself and any other performance-related car enthusaist. TK
