eot running cooler than eot

Update from last month. Had the truck into ford this week. The dealer ran the ect up too a steady 204 degrees. The eot stabilized at 198 degrees. This info was sent to Ford hotline and the reply was that dtc's would be set if the temp. variance exceeded set spread in either direction and that they were not concerned with this apparent reverse spread. I have the Ford read out but am having trouble posting it. Exact verbage is

" Some variation between the ECT and EOT PID is normal and does not indicate a concern. If the pcm detects a concern with ect/eot correlation, the pcm will set a P012F dtc. The P012F dtc sets when the maximum difference between the ect and eot exceeds the calibrated threshold for a prescribed amount of time. The provided PID readinds do not indicate a concern at this time."

On a side note, they let me extend my premium care esp for another four years.

Meant to say eot running cooler than ect in the headingg

My ECT is always more than my EOT..... I just wrote it off to the synthetic oil I use...... Should I have something to be concerned about? I have a brand new oil cooler and EGR delete if that makes a difference.

Check those temps BEFORE starting truck after a COLD overnight. Both temps SHOULD be the same. If not, I believe you can adjust the Scangauge ECT so they are the same. (IF NOT THE ECT, IT'S THE EOT)

69's truck lives in another dimension, either that or his connectors are reversed.

Eot has always run 2 to 7 degrees warmer than the ect until a return 400 mile trip home last month. The eot all the way back ran 7 to 12 degrees cooler. That is one of the reasons it was in the shop. The over night temps of the eot/ect are within one degree of each other. Thanks for the dimension comment however.

Once the engine is completely warmed up, the eot is usually 2 to 15 degrees warmer than the ect when running at hiway speeds on level ground. A larger spread than that usually indicates a plugged oil cooler.

I guess if Ford isn't worried about it there's no reason you should be...especially since they let you extend that ESP for 4 more years. Just strange how it changed all of a sudden like that.

I agree Steve, however if they don't care and took on the next 4 years I guess I won't spend the 35 bucks and arbitrarily change the sending unit.

Just by design it Obvious theres a Problem be it a sensor or Head Gasket/cracked head issue

Id say that was a very smart move on your part to get that warrenty extended

I personally think it's a sending unit starting to get flakey when it gets warmed up. The truck's running great and getting good fuel mileage. Also starts great.

Personaly Im right with ya

My tranny temp sensor would start to warm up it would go from just warming up to redline all within like 5 miles leaving the house after 12 hour cold soak. That sensor was all over Hot then it would go cold then hot again. it did that for a week then things been normal since knock on wood

there was no way I even drove close to far enough to get it that hot

does your EOT sensor reading jump all over the place
and then again they all probably fail diffrently yours could just be off a few degress

After full warm up the eot is 5 to 12 degrees cooler than the ect. The 12 degrees was on a long, 400 mile, hiway trip. Usually 5 to 7 degrees around town.

I think you should pull those two sensors and swap locations. I'm pretty sure they are the same sensor. Then see what happens.

Or, if you are content with Fords answer, then let it be, let it be...
