To begin again. 99 F-350, 7.3, 4WD,longbed. Stopped at a stopsign and when it went a few feet it just died. Don't know if check engine light ever came on or not, I just steered it out of road. Will crank and show RPM but no start. I have tried everything you guys have suggested. Oil in pan is good. Oil in HPOP is half inch from top. Unplugged ICP, some oil on connector, cleaned and won't start plugged in or unplugged. Pulled ICP and cleaned.#30 fuse ok,unplugged fuel bowl heater still no start. Wait to start light light comes on, fuel bowl full of fuel. IPR nut tightened only a very little. Can't find any bad wires anywhere. Was low on fuel when it quit but I am sure there was still a few gallons in tank. Frustration setting in, can anybody help with more suggestions? No codes on reader. I believe that the check engine light must caome on before this reader works.
If you let the tank get less then 1/4, you may be sucking air. Have you opened the water drain valve and turn the key on to see if you are getting fuel? This is a common problem, the fuel pickup tube gets a hole in it or the in tank screens gets clogged.
How did it die? Spit and sputter or like someone shut off the key? Is there any smoke coming out the tailpipe while cranking? Do you have a chip or any mods done to the truck?
When it died it was like the key was turned off. I tried opening the drain pipe several times, the drain pipe was loose at the fuel bowl and each time it had pressure but it looked and sounded like there was air in the line. With the key turned on it seemed to have a good stream of fuel.I have added fuel where it shows a quarter tank. No smoke at all when cranking. Oil pressure guage never moves while cranking. Read my prior posts and I list all the other suggestions that I have tried. Do you have any other thoughts? Batteries are now weak so I am now trickle charging them.
That means the injectors are not even trying to fire. Do all dash lights work normal? WTS light, etc?

No offense meant chief, but when you start reading lots of threads and try to help, it gets really hard to keep up with who has what problem, especially with some of the newer members we don't know yet. If you can keep all your symptoms and what you've tried so far in one thread, it becomes much easier for us to skim back through it and review what's been done. If we have to search several pages of threads for other posts you might have, it becomes too much trouble and you end up with less help. Can you provide a link to the other thread(s)?
He did list quite a bit Bob. You're right about that. I was just wondering what else might have been discussed in the other thread. For instance, which wires has he checked? Do we know what code reader he has? Perhaps he covered any mods in his earlier thread.
Or maybe I'm just being too critical and should relax a bit.
if the oil pressure gauge isnt moving when you try starting it, possibly the low oil pump went out and not supplying oil to the hpop. just a thought ive seen it before and the truck would not start at all until replaced. its kind of a cheap insurance anyways to just replace it for $75.00.
With the key on, and the valve open on the fuel filter, it should be showering diesel fuel under your truck. I mean a big freaking mess of fuel! The opening of that valve is at the bottom of the housing. Any air would be at the top.
