Hey all, me again, lol. I wanted to start off saying thanks for all the good answers on my last thread and steering me in the direction of first bronco purchase! I think I'm gonna love it! I bought a 93 eddie baurer(green on tan) 351w, auto with 120k. It loose in front so I decided after reading through other threads to just rebuild the front end. I've seen sevral posts about a poly kit by moog that is 699. My question is: what all is in this kit? There is a local shop that sells truck accessories and specializes in suspension modifications. He quoted me a set of moog for 249(does not contain ball joints) plus another 240 for ball joints. This seemed, a little low considering some of the, other threads on here. Also, what else should I look for while I'm under there? I'm gonna check brakes and wheels issues and will probably find something, lol I always do! Anything else?
I would check for everything, engine leaks, radiator hose leaks, trans cooler leaks etc. Check steering linkage for excessive play. Anything that looks out of the ordinary deserves a closer look.
Thanks, guess I should've mentioned that I've already checked for leaks and the little stuff. Just being new to the bronco way...was curious what to look for during the suspension rebuild, steering linkage defiantly being a good one. Thanks again
Saw a thread recently how to repair slop in steering shaft at the slip joint in engine bay. Definatly worth a look. It was here, or maybe in the F-150 section. It involved using an old feeler gauge as a shim.
240 for Ball joints is prolly just parts most likely. I have all Moog bushings on my truck and I love the way they help the truck. All the bushings are easy to replace yourself with basic tools, so save alot of money and do them yourself.
Rockauto has great prices on teh Moog bushings, plus you should get a sweet magnet to boot.
lol, ok first off all the prices listed is just parts. I was gonna do the work myself, I've never done ball joints on any truck, let alone a ford, but I have done them on smaller cars and I pretty much knew what I would be getting into. I was figuring 12-15 hours of my time on the Ball joints(and at least two busted knuckles and countless uses of words I generally dont use). But anyway, back on track...the local shop quoted 10 hours(55/hour) for the entire rebuild(ball joints and all the moog bushings), so for 500 or so, I think I'm much better off letting him have the sore knuckles and use the foul language . I just wanted to get a good idea of what the kit might include and what I might want to include, being this is my first Bronco and I'm new to the Bronco way. Thanks again for all the info! I defiantly plan on checking/corrceting the steering slop. I love the help I always get from FTE
Well you'll want to make sure you get new wheel bearings and seals. If you want to replace the lockouts, now is a good time as it will all have to come off anyway. Also check the brake rotors, i know all these parts are stacking up the price, but you would be better off getting this all knocked out in one swoop as the labor will kill you later for just rotors.
