Front end kits?

I have an 88' 3006,manual bronco with manual hubs.

In the past several months, the front end has gotten pretty sloppy and just a few months ago the steering box started leaking.

Before the steering box thing, a friend said my tierods needed replacing so I bought a set but when I later jacked it up, I found that my tierods were fine. I couldn't feel any play in the upper or lower ball joints but there was give in the wheel, so I figured it was wheelbearings. Also, the radius arm bushing is old, but not dryrotted and not allowing for the give.

Well, I'm going to be needing this truck this winter so I gotta get this stuff fixed. I was already planning to replace both sets of wheelbearings, as well as replacing the rotors and calipers up front as they're pretty cheap and one of my rotors has some gauging and my brakesystem doesn't hold fluid perfectly.

Now, I'm thinking, if I'm ripping into the front end, I might as well either buy a new steering box, or at least rebuild mine. I've heard of these kits but could someone clue me in as to what they consist of and where to shop for the best price.

Also, since I'm changing the steering box, brakes, tierodends, and wheelbearings, I should probably change both upper/lower ball joints as well as the other bushings up front. That's where my question is, where do I find this kit? A kit that contains everything cept for the tierod ends and is it extremely expensive?

Price is important because I'm still not sure if my steering box can be saved and a new one from Napa costs $180.

Hmmm, anything else? Well, any advice for me trying to get this done on a good weekend would help.

Thankx,

Chaiyz

Front end kits?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Oct-02 AT 01:22 PM (EST)]Replacing ball joints is a major undertaking. I had mine replaced and removed the steering knuckles myself but then took the knuckles to a shop to have the old ball joints pressed out and the new ones pressed in. I'm not 100% certain but I think all TTB Broncos have the same type of ball joints. As for a kit that has everything in it, I'm not aware of one but then I never went looking for one. As for complete bushing kits, check with Energy suspension or even Jeff's Bronco Graveyard. They sell new bushing sets for all year Broncos.
