Just a quick verification, I've got an aod tranny in my truck but its in bad shape. I've got the opportunity to get my hands on one out of a 95 crown vic, it's in good working condition and will get me moving that much quicker. Just making sure it will bolt up to my 302?
What yr is your truck? At some point the trannys went to an AODE. That would require a PCM or ECU that would control the shifting. If its the AODE it will take some other work and parts to make it all jive togther. I couldnt imagine a Crown Vic that new not being electric shift. Other than that if they are both for small block Windsor patterns then I dont see why it wouldnt bolt right up.
Ford ran the AOD in the Crown Vics from 1983-1992. Then they went to the AODE in the Crown Vics from 1993-1994. In 1995-2004 Ford used the 4R70W.
However the AOD would work in any of those yrs b/c it doesnt require a computer to shift it. It would shift regardless if it had the right computer or not, but , it wont work the other way w/o the right computer. As in the AODE and 4R70W wont work in a vehicle that doesnt have the PCm to tell it to shift. So some guy could have put an AOD in the 1995 Crown Vic , but , it didnt come like that from the factory. So you need to know what you are looking at so you dont get the wrong tranny.
Awesome thanks guys for the info, guess we need to pull it out and look at it. Luckily it's a buddy of mine that has it that is using the car for a derby car and doesn't need the running gear.

Trent if its a derby car then your buddy could have very well put an AOD in it.
As far as the info in the link I provided goes. I dont know if they are referring to manufacture dates or actual yr designations of the vehicles. For instance the 2012's have been on the lots for about 6 mos now. A lot of the 2012's will have 2011 manufacture dates. You know what I mean? So IOW just b/c the link says they quit using the AODE in 94 that doesnt clarify if the 95's built in 94 still had them or not.
