Picked up a '85 f-250 and camper combo from my wife's grandmother. This truck has been meticulously up kept for it's entire lifetime. Used to pull a '78 wolverine cab over. This is the first time it has even seen snow in the last 27 years! Came to me for a steal of a price and a little less than 50k miles on it.

the only rust on the entire truck is the rear bumper and side rails. When i picked it up this summer, it needed a brake master cylinder and a quick carb going through and it's ready to rock! this winter i plan on replacing the rubber lines for the brakes, also. They are probably "ok" but it's at least 20 year old rubber so it is pretty cheap piece of mind.

Home Made spare hangar. tire currently isn't on it.. had an over heating issue this summer and pulled it off, never quite made it back on. On the bright side, the heating issue was unrelated, i think. so i can stick it back on. i thought that a heat issue was causing the truck to run bad, but i found a corroded computer plug which i believe was leading to an extra lean condition causing the truck to run bad, and over heat!

Welcome! Do us and you a favor and go to User Control Panel and fill out your location and other info. And, when you get enough posts (25?) put some info about your truck in your signature. That way we'll not have to ask questions so often.

Nice truck! I hope you get the chance to take it camping again.

I like that extra pin stripe that runs under the body trim piece.

Tnx. As said, once you have enough posts to have a signature, which may be 25, then it helps to put info about your truck there so's we don't have to ask when you post a question.

Yes, 25 posts.

Regardless of a sig file or not, it has historically been considered proper Netiquette to include the specifics (year, model, engine, etc.) in the body of your post when asking a question. The easier you can make it for people to help you, the better your chances of getting said help.

Not everybody displays sig files....

But, Chris is right - give us everything ready to-hand to help you. The easier it is for us to get our heads around the issue the better, and more numerous, the responses.

In fact, there are those who won't respond to posts that don't use reasonably good English. And many will bypass posts that look like text messages, such as the lack of capitalization, run-on sentences, lots of shortcuts, etc. Part of that is the difficulty in reading, and therefore understanding the problem. However, I see that you don't tend in that direction and applaud you.

Yep!

My 'net connection is generally pretty slow, and I'm not gonna spend the time downloading all the dancing images and crap that some pople put in them.

I don't see avatars, either.

Also very true, it's surprising how many people here I've spoken with who feel this way.

Depending on my mood, I'll also fall into that camp of ignoring posts from people who won't write clearly.

Using "im" for "I'm" will just about always get the OP onto my Ignore List. Same for "id" and "iv."

There are sometimes those with medical problems (e.g. are blind and using a TDD) or are from a foreign country or sumthin' but those people almost always explain their situation in their first post and apologize up front. Those people have valid reasons and are excused.

Well, you can count me in the camp that believes that it doesn't save any time skipping letters.. it just makes you sound illiterate. Punctuation isn't hard and makes a big difference in intention.

As for the truck, silly as it sounds, I'm still getting to know her. She has dual tanks. Either the gas gauge isn't as accurate as it once was, or one tank is a little larger than the other. not really any major problems standing out, except that I'm only getting around 10mpg right now. I think that is a little bit driving style and little bit cobwebs to work out.

seuadr, two items, I used to have, actually still do have it, a '72 Wolverine 11 1/2' slide in I used to haul in my 77 F150. Second, what engine and rear end gear does it have also what transmission. Fuel economy can be a funny thing on these trucks. If you changed to a lower temperature thermostat from stock, the computer thinks the engine is cold and runs richer.

Welcome to FTE!

Sweet! i'm not sure the length of this or much of anything. the same grandfather that had the truck apparently bought the shell and re-built the inside from scratch or nearly so.

The vin shows it to be a 351W HO. i've got 1,2 and drive, so i would guess it is a 3 speed with overdrive? i just climbed under the truck and it is a 3.55 non locking rear end.

i did change the thermostat, the original was frozen up. I do not know what temperature it trips at, i just asked for the stock stat at auto zone.

Fine looking truck you have there, seuadr. And welcome to the forums!

I have always liked the upper trim that you have on your truck. This was optional on the 1985 - 1986 models only and is very rare to find a complete set in good condition like you have on your truck. Take very good care of it, because it is not reproduced.
