Some smoke at start up

Unburnt fuel if it's white. I think all 7.3's do that when cold. And it clears up after a few minutes too I bet. That is simply the nature of a 7.3. No need to worry about it.
Now if it has a bluish look to it, then it's likely oil, which is a sign of either piston rings (not likely), turbo seal going out (possible), or injector o-rings (most likely).

Could be cracked injector cup or cups. Is there any fuel in your coolant resevoir. This is a tell tell sign of cracked injector cups. I am going through this myself right now. I noticed the fuel in coolant first but when the weather started getting cooler my truck would smoke white smoke until it warmed up. I hope this helps.

Mine will puff out white smoke at idle when it's cold out for a few minutes. I'm talking about 30 degrees and below. Both of them have always done that. When it's in the low teens or below, they put out white smoke all the time idling. But then, every vehicle I have ever owned would do that. I assumed it was because of the cold.

You hit the nail on the head. My 7.3 (sold) would do the same thing when cold. After it warmed up, it would never happen.
