hey guys just the last few days when im starting my truck ive been noticing it puffing a fair amount of blue smoke. From what ive been reading is its quite common do they all do this? ive been reading alot and i seem to find injector o rings or a turbo seal is there any other symptoms to point me into the correct direction? thanks
truck appears to run normal when cold i havent noticed any power loss. Read the codes and nothing shows up. My ficm is only like 6 months old and is reading anywhere from 47.5-48 ill check the oil temperature it normally just smokes until i kick it off the high idle and start moving then all is good

Reason: add
It seems to me that losing oil through the turbo would cause smoke all the time, not just at cold start. Bad injector o-rings would lead to fuel dilution of the oil.
If you get little or no smoke after plugging it in, then I'd say you have an injector(s) going bad.
I noticed when i deleted my cat that it smokes blue if i let it idle and warm up awhile. Once i take off it goes away and alls good. I think, as mentioned, i to have an injector going bad. I need to get it to ford and have a contribution test done.
I have three injector headed south on me. If it's below 45 at night and I don't plug in my truck then I'll get pretty good blueish smoke on cold start. Clears up when I start driving.
If I plug in the truck though, I'll get very little smoke.
My bet is on the turbo seal going out,
it sounds like just the beginning of the failure. Once you're in the throttle there's enough back pressure to keep it at bay (for now).
Once the down pipe is off the turbo, look and see if it looks oily in there. It won't throw a code.
Thats what i thought with mine, but the down pipe and the turbine housing have no oil in them at all. I had a catastrophic turbo seal failure about a year ago. What a mess, it blew blueish white smoke so thick that people behind me had to pull over because they couldnt see.
