Smog Pump Rebuild

im starting to get a noticable clicking sound from my smog pump upon starting when its been sitting over night, goes away after awhile. is there a rebuild kit for these ? figure it must be bearings. rebuilt is about $85.00

Not that I've seen, no. It's better to just change it out with an already rebuilt one. They are a royal pain to get out, especially because there's a bolt holding on the backside of the pump on the right side(if you looking at the engine from the front of the truck). I recently replaced mine. The bolts on pulley itself aren't real tight. But make sure you put the pulley on the right way again, otherwise your belt will rub on the idler pulley. Ask me how I know.

I did find this thread where somebody rebuilt their own(not on a ford truck).

I've seen replacement new ones for $30, you might want to go that way.

I have "fixed" a smog pump once, I gutted that thing and relubed the bearings. You will most likely dammage the vanes when/if you get it apart. I had to do this on my 89 F250 when the pump locked up and had no $$$ for anything. So far 2 years later, it works just fine as a idler pulley.
