It's been plugged in since this morning. I've never been convinced that the block heater really works. It's NEVER even close to warm after being plugged in.
Does it spin over fast like it is warm or?? If the block heater doesn't work everything else will have to be in tip top shape to get that thing to start.

Batteries are too dead to spin over really fast. If the charger is on while I turn the key, the GP relay won't engage. I've popped the protection on the charger once already trying to start with the charger on.
I may just have to let it charge overnight and see where that gets me. I'm going to pull the fuel filter to make sure the fuel hasn't gelled. If it has by chance, I've got some Diesel911.
Batteries are just about 3 years old. I had them checked last year and they checked out fine. I'm pretty sure I've got a GP or two out.

Well gelled fuel won't stop it from spinning over fast so get the battery thing figured out. You can check for gelled fuel also. I would charge it overnite and start from there.
Edit: If your batteries were completely dead check to see if they are frozen or not?

They're maint. free batteries. No cover to pop off to check.

Look to see if they look like they are bulged out on the sides at all. But yes chargin them in where it is warm could help to ensure they are not froze.
I think it's time for some new glow plugs when I finally get it started. I can get it to turn over pretty fast now. It's trying to fire, but can't generate enough heat to keep going on it's own.
Batteries don't look bulged out.
Looks like I've got more work ahead of me once it finally warms back up. New GPs and recirculating coolant heater.
I could take them out and thaw them in the garage.
If you havent already, I would take the batteries out and charge them in a warm place. Maybe you could cuddle with them and give them some attention. lol. Warm charged batteries will work better than trying to charge them in this freezer we live in. Good luck, looks like it will warm up for ya this weekend too.
