Jay got you covered, chain case oil. Most people recommend Polaris chain case lube(which is $$), ATF, or I use 75-90 synthetic gear oil. Really, jsut about any oil should work, it just lubes a chain and a couple of gears, and maybe the chain case bearings.
Should take around 9 ounces.

You may want to remove the chain case cover and inspect those parts...maybe get a new gasket. Either that or the drive shaft seal must be leaking. Or you could just add oil and keep an eye on the level. Clean everything up and keep an eye out for leaks.
Correct, and good advice.
Get a new gasket(about $8 from polaris) for the chain case. You will have to remove the muffler to get at the chain case, just a few springs holding it on. There are 4 3/8" bolts holding the cover on.

That's what I have been doing, best way to learn IMO.
Thanks! I wonder how long that thing was low on oil then. I should take the cover off and do some inspecting before I find out 30 miles from home. I have a Polaris dealer right here in town so I am sure he has plenty of gaskets and oil. You use ATF in the crankcase? I guess gear oil would be the best, right?
Another question, I have seen a lot of XCR and XLT's on YouTube and they seem a lot higher. Is it possible someone lower mine? I am thinking I should rebuild all of my shocks. Oh, I just remembered, does anyone have a adjusting tool for the front susp. on my sled? I noticed one side is lower (not adjusted same as the other).
Ok, I will quit typing so you guys can respond. Geesh, you think I was on meth or something. lol

Yeah, they should have everything you need. I don't use ATF, but some people do.
I use gear oil.

Or I could just buy newer/better sled later, much later.
Pipes are a slippery slope on those 600's, they really aren't built for them from what I have seen. Though, there are people out there that pipe/jet/clutch these engine all the time and they survive.

Does yours have the xtra 12 (or xtra10) suspension? It would be on the machine somewhere I would think. Not sure when they started using that, yours may just have the standard 8" suspension the older Indy's have/had.
I don't have a spanner wrench for the shocks, I just take the load off them and turn the spring by hand.
I'm about to do the valve cover gasket on the Saturn for a 3rd time. This time, I actually have an in-lb torque wrench. I had to order one off Amazon. None of the normal places in town carried anything that went below 120 in-lb. I need to torque to 80 in-lb. From what I've read, it has to be spot on all the way around or the thing will continue to leak (of course, this is assuming the plastic valve cover isn't warped).
I got the latch cable for the drivers door in as well. The cable looks simple enough. I may need the truck this weekend, so I should probably be out there working on it. Don't really have the ambition tonight.
