Well it is real close. I just have a few connections to make and that is it. The engine alignment tool showed up yesterday so I have to check that too and then time to fire it up! Should have it running in the next night or two I hope.

Ok, I got the Xtra 10 all greased up and my rebuilt shock installed. He wanted $125 with the Fox shock, of course I already had a Fox shock so I talked him down to $75 without the shock. He said it is shorter and I will have to move the mounting holes like Mike said. Otherwise I am good to go for proper fit.

Des' uncle is coming over to check on the gas pressure and such too. I texted his kids to see if they are available to install the suspension. They are a couple of sledheads, so maybe they can do it this weekend with me. Otherwise might have to come down to the metro after work one day.

Sounds like a great deal all the way around Cory. If they cannot help just let us know.

Yea, I'll need it. Might be a little tough with all the old parts on the tunnel. I think I have her cousin talked into doing it this weekend. He just needs to check in with the girlyfriend. Haha, he better get used to that.

I wish I would have taken before and after pics now. It would be cool to see how much it changes.

You will have to move the support plates for the rear mounts at the very least Cory. About 2" forward. The front one technically 3/8" forward.

I thought the front ones were good. Do you think I have to move the front? I will see what I can find.

Snowmobile rear suspensions are very sensitive to mounting locations. If you can find out the mounting hole locations for the sled, or similar, that had that suspension it would be very beneficial.

Using that template that Mike saved to your laptop you would need to move the front mounting point approximately 3/8" for the best results. Depending on the size of the support plate there you may just need to drill a new hole and not move the plate. I cannot remember how big that one was. Shouldn't be more than a few rivets to drill out if you do need to move it.

Cory, if you use this diagram here http://www.jbshocks.com/x10mount.jpg

I believe you need to move the front holes ahead about 3/8" like Jay said and the plates should be wide enough to accommodate that. In the rear, you will either have to remove the plates and move them forward or install new ones, approximately 2 1/2" forward of the current holes.

The problem you could run into using the front holes as they are is the whole skid will be placed back 3/8" or so too far, and this could cause issues with track tension and weight transfer to name a couple.

Don't let all this scare you off though, it is still a pretty straight forward swap. And you will enjoy the extra suspension travel too.
