Steering Column Removal Help

How do you get the automatic steering column out? I've got everything loosened up, but just can't get the shifter linkage, of the column, to fit through the hole in the firewall. Do I have to disassemble the column before I can pull it through the firewall?

I think I pulled out throgh the cab and out the door. My seats were out at the time.

Yes, I have everything removed. Just wondering if I have to take the linkage out of the column in order to get the coumn out.

It will come out. Takes a lot of twisting and turning to get it just right. It will help to have the steering wheel off.

You should not have to remove the linkage from the column... just disconnect the rod from the shift lever. Remove the plate at the fire wall.. it's 4 bolts to the firewall, and a clamp around the column. Oh.. also unscrew the rubber seal from the firewall on the inside.
