Identify this on steering column

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what this connection is for on the steering column? The second photo shows the connection coming off the column.

Doesn't look like original steering column. What did steering column come off of?

Ahhh. That makes sense. The front end and maybe the column came off a CV. I assume I can toss then.

Also check those bolts. They don't look very tight.

Later column, with neutral switch. Keep it if you ever want to run an auto trans that doesn't have an integral neutral safety switch, or if you ever want to add back up lights.

Steering column

Thank you for your response. I removed the switch. I also make a bracket. Pictured in the inside. Turned out pretty well.
