I have a 2003 f250 v10 2wd with a 4R100 transmission. After getting an oil change I was wiping down the filter and oil plug and noticed on the back of the transmission on the bottom of the case there is a black circular plastic piece that had a very small amount of seepage. I think it might be just some engine oil on it, but when I went to wipe it down, the black circular piece has a slight amount of movement to it. Is this an overflow seal and should it have a small amount of play?
Thats your access plug to access the torque converter drain plug if it is equipped with one. If you are getting oil seepage from there, that COULD indicate that the rear main seal in the motor is starting to go bad. Now that is just a POSSIBLE cause of oil leaking from there .. im not saying thats whats wrong with it .. lol. Are you sure that it was oil and not tranny fluid. If its tranny fluid then the front input shaft on the tranny could be leaking. Again just a possibility.
