Installing new EGR

FTE's,
I'm installing a new EGR valve after getting a check engine light and finding out that it was the EGR. I know how to uninstall and install but does anyone have any tips? Things you would of done before you installed it? Thanks!

The EGR codes I received from Autozone are as follows (in this order):
P0401
probable cause
-Blocked passage on EGR system
-Failed EGR valve
-EGR solenoid faulty
-Failed EGR pressure sensor where applicable
-Failed EGR position sensor where applicable
